Bankruptcy isn’t always terrible news…does anyone have a personal experience with bankruptcy that has a pleased ending? Like to hear some excellent news about a banko for once. Thankfulness.

Yes, I’ve always been excellent with my money. Lived within my means, spending much less than I’ve earned and never bought anything I couldn’t afford and never had to file for bankruptcy. For those who don’t follow those simple concepts, there’s very seldom a pleased ending.
Bankruptcy IS always terrible news for the poor suckers that you rip off by not paying them!
Well, I was rather suddenly diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder. That meant no more full-time job – and yes, I did have a honest amount of credit card debt. I can barely walk, so jobs of any kind are essentially out of the question. Bankruptcy was the only way out. It really tore me up mentally to have to default on those debts – it tore me up to the point of a nervous breakdown, suicide attempts, and hospitalization in a psych ward (twice). But the bankruptcy was approved. Now I don’t have that consequence and worry hanging over my head constantly. I’m now on Social Security Disability and just principal a rather frugal life these days. So bankruptcy worked for me.
I do have my own apartment in a low-income building here in downtown Seattle. It’s really quite nice – stone floor, thick walls (can’t hear the neighbors), and a view of the Space Needle. For me, bankruptcy (although to some extent forced upon me) was one of the preeminent decisions I ever made.
