Does employer check my credit report and background annually? (foreclosure / bankruptcy)?

I am living in California and will have to do foreclosure or file a banktruptcy a small time soon. Does this affect my career as a government worker?
If the employer check my credit / background on a regular basis, they would find all my financial issues I couldn’t avoid.

I am really concerning if there will be any demotion or I can be laid off due to this personal financial issue, i.e., bankruptcy. I am a government worker (not in the finance department)….I am really worrying about my career now. Do they really check credits / public minutes annually?

Any information would be highly appreciated.

Honestly, they probably wont unless you are high clearance or have access to millions of dollars on the job.

~~I honestly can’t say they won’t as we don’t know the type of job you hold. I can say as a rule, employers only do background and credit checks prior to hiring.

I reckon you need to realize that we are in an unprecedented recession/depression type of economy that has unnatural one in three people very adversely. Even if they did, and it isn’t an issue which would complicate your position, then I reckon financial hardship will be forgiven aptly now. It is just affecting too many people.

If I were you, I would not lose a minute’s sleep over this. You do what you have to do to keep a roof over your head and food on the table. In these times, many people have no alternative than filing BK.~~

if they did they would have to caution you about it. Why don’t you just question them?
