Does anyone have experience with the “new Medicare Rx Drug Plan”?

Question by Lisa: Does anyone have experience with the “new Medicare Rx Drug Plot”?
Last year I helped my grandmother in signing up for Humana’s Section D (optional) prescription drug plot. She is not (thankfully) taking any medication on a regular basis. We did this as a precaution, since she is close to 80, in case she did need rx coverage in the future. The plot was $ 28.00 per month. She paid this for 10 months. But, on her FIXED income of Social Security, this started to strain her budget, so she wrote Humana a letter saying she no longer wished to be covered by the plot, and she bunged paying the premium. 3 months later, Humana is now sending her a bill for the remaining 2 months service (to equal one year). Positive they are adding a “penalty” each month. She is now objecting to this on principle. When I helped her sign up, there was NO indication that this was MANDATORY for the entire year. They are now calling her and threatening to turn her over to a collection agency. Is this how the Rx drug plot is suppose to “aid” our elderly??? Anyone have any thoughts?

It’s the same with everything the Government sticks its nose into… Like with the reformed, reformed and so far again reformed tariff laws and regulations… Everyone, even the professionals are all muddling through collectively and learning as they go.

The only people who really feel the effects of that confusion and suffering are the elderly who need their medications.

Just what ancient people need… a cocktail of needed medications, worry and bitter horrible automated confusion. Fantastic thought !

Historically… That is how the Republican partiy provides government Jobs and job security to those who are the initially to rape the system and screw things up for innocent and the poor people… Hence the whole FIMA thing and New Orleans and the Insurance SCAM with Citizens! It is rediculous and we are a nation that is basically a naughtily run business. The consumer suffers as those in potential just fold and take their money and more on to a touch else…

What do you reckon? Answer below!

These drug plans are a joke, the people that they really aid are few and far between. Caution her not to give up, keep fighting it. Although there is a penalty for signing up late you can cancel your plot at any time. Did she keep a copy of the letter? Has she called them? If she continues to have problems I would call 1-800-MEDICARE to file a complaint. She will want to have her medicare card and med D card in front of her when she calls.

This plot is a BIG joke.. ONce a person gets to $ 2500 worth of meds (with ded) they quit paying .. U then have to pay EVERY DIME up to $ 5000, then they initiation paying again.. If a person can afford to pay for the gap, they would not need it at all. Did she send the letter certified with ret. rec. U can try to fight but if they say they never rec. it and u don’t have proof they did, she may be SOL.. I would def call 1-800- MEDICARE and talk to a caseworker.. HOwever, know that NONE of them know what is really going on either.. She could go to the SS office and talk to her caseworker and she could aid a lot more than calling them will.. GL
