Question by NOOOOOOOOObama!: If a class were offered in your area that taught ancient fashioned homemaking skills would you be interested in it
The class would teach things like making homemade bread, homemade jelly, homemade pasta, homemade cheese, decorative needlework, crocheting, menu plotting, budgeting, “green” cleaning”etc…
Basically it would be an intense home ec class for women.
If you would be interested, could you caution me what geopgraphic area you live in (midwest, etc…)? I’d like to see if there is a stronger interest in some parts of the country compared to others.
One reason I am wondering is because many young women and men don’t have valuable homemaking skills. A link years ago I got 2 phone calls in the same week from young women at my church asking how to boil an egg. I’m serious!

Yes, and I am in Oklahoma.
I’d be interested. Those are excellent things to know. I live in Oklahoma.
I really took such a class several years ago and it was packed. I spent a lot of my adult life obtaining my degrees, running my businesses and real estate. I realized that I didn’t know how to cook because I always ate out, I had the dry cleaners doing valuable mending and sewing on buttons because I didn’t know how to sew, I didn’t really have valuable homemaking skills. I lived in Pasadena, CA at the time and the class was offered through our city’s recreational department. I notice that there are akin classes being offered in the city in which I now live, but they are divided up, like valuable sewing, sensitivity healthy meals, valuable home maintenance, etc. I reckon you would generate a lot of interest….I still don’t know how to make homemade jelly, bread or cheese!
I’d be interested, more in the cooking aspects and the ‘green cleaning’ aspects. I live in Colorado.
not me necessarily. I have all the skills that you list. But I know a lot of gals my age that could and would take the class. I grew up cooking and cleaning and sewing and fixing stuff but a lot of gals don’t have the skills. I am always answering the phone to how do you make …… or can you fix this apir of pants the button is off. I reckon classes like that would be beneficial to a lot of people. I live in KS.
I would be interested in ALL of them. Unfortunately, I live too far away from any of you all…
I too would like this! Unfortunately, I am in Washington State.
I would because my mom says I need some homemaking skills.
I live in the Los Angeles area.
