Why has my phone bill charges increased so much and is there a way to decrease it?

Question by debodun: Why has my phone bill charges augmented so much and is there a way to decrease it?
My monthly land-line based telephone bill is around $ 40, up from around $ 25 just 5 years ago. Considering I’m on Verizon’s “budget” service plot and I make one or two calls a month, this seems excessive. Why the rapid boost and is there any way to cut down the bill? I don’t want to give up my land line or switch to cable based service because when the potential goes out, I will not have service.

The preeminent way is to really examine your bill – if I could guess, I would say that there’s a chance that you’ve been crammed. Cramming is when a business tells a larger company (like Verizon) that you’ve signed up for their service but not paid.

Check your statement (ALWAYS check your statement) and give Verizon a call. Clarify that you can’t keep up with this price and are looking to switch to a different service if you can’t find a solution.

I don’t know it includes your DSL service ($ 20-$ 25/month) or you signed up for a higher monthly bill but with boundless calls.
Check your bill and eliminate whatever you don’t use.

place on’t know the answer to your problem, but it’s fascinating that my AT&T phone bill is $ 9 a month for valuable service, positive another $ 10 in taxes, fees, & surcharges. Kinda ridiculous that the extra charges add up to more than the cost of the service itself.
